NVC Letter

august in shanghai??
Yesterday's mail brought our NVC (National Visa Center) letter from the US Consulate's Office in Guanghzou (where all Chinese adoptions our processed) with notification that our I800 petition had been received.  This is what we were waiting for!!  It came about one week after we had received the I-800.  On Thursday our agency forwarded our immigration request (DS-230), I-800, LSC, and visa fee so that hopefully when the US Consulate reopens on Tuesday our  all of that plus our NVC letter can be hand delivered to US Consulate in Guanghzuo by our adoption agency's facilitator.  Apparently the NVC notification can be forwarded by email.  The rest should be arriving in China by hardcopy on Tuesday.  Got all of that?!

Now that I have finished torturing you with those important details, I will give you the "bottom line," so to speak.  According to the milestones that have been outlined by my agency, we could receive our Travel Approval as early as 7/28!!!!?!  Did I really just say JULY?  Travel generally takes place 2 or 3 weeks following Travel Approval.

Time to go make lists...Somebody has some serious work to do!!  I still have not even started her bedroom!  Researched design ideas - yes.  Purchased or painted - no!!

  2. Hi! I just found your blog on one of the Yahoo groups and wanted to introduce myself. We adopted our first child, a nine-year-old daughter from China, this January. Preparing her bedroom was one of the highlights for me, and so worth it when we came home and she saw it for the first time! Our blog is www.howwefoundjoy.blogspot.com--the room prep stuff is in October through December. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Congratulations!
